Colégio Charm House

Welcoming guests to a cozy family home, filled with stories and wisdom, Colégio Charm House opened its doors in the summer of 2021, in the center of Tavira as a family project of the hosts Cristina Guevara and José Carlos Gonçalves. A place to make unforgettable memories with your friends, family or partner was created along the river Séqua and the Ria Formosa.

This charming building has a very interesting history: it was built in the middle of the 18th century for the cook of Portugal’s king D. João V as a token of gratitude for his loyalty and service to the court. The palace was a typical manor house at the time, adding a very typical architectural trend of the Algarve – the scissor truss. After several generations it was transformed into an only boy catholic college of Nossa Senhora das Mercês and later in 1971 it served as a local section of a college in Faro. After a few years of rehabilitation, Colégio Charm House finally appeared. The architecture and the original walls and stones were honored and modernity, comfort and luxury touches were added. Inside there is a chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Our Lady of Conception). All 20 suites are uniquely decorated. The fuse between style and ethnic roots results in a combination of modernity and tradition.

All rooms have a shower, air conditioning, coffee and tea facilities, mini bar, safe, hairdryer, toiletries and a television (except for the Chapel Suites). For romantic getaways or for a family holiday, there are various types designed for the needs of those who would like to experience the special atmosphere of the place. The Eastern Algarve is known for its long, hot summer days and that’s why the Colégio Charm House has a common pool, one pool shared by three rooms and four private pools for you to cool down and in the Family Suite you can enjoy a private jacuzzi. Massages, dinners, transfers, laundry service, boat or quad trips and even babysitting can be booked upon request.

At Colégio Charm House a spectacular breakfast, customized to your preference and according to your tastes, is served. Their products are chosen in an ecological and sustainable way, giving priority to local farmers and seasonal products from the regional market. In the morning, you may find honey from Tavira, yogurt and fresh cheese from São Brás de Alportel, homemade jams and granola and many other flavors that each season offers. With their Surprise Dinner, they are happy to serve you romantic or family meals, but they can also suggest you the best restaurants in the area.

With the energy restored after a good night’s sleep and an enriched breakfast, the city, the beach or the countryside provide countless activities and experiences all year around. You can choose between water sports, boat trips, sport fishing, horse riding, cycling, bird watching, golf and numerous outdoor activities. The Eastern Algarve allows you to bathe on paradise beaches, with mild temperatures and sandy beaches as far as the eye can see. Talk to the hosts and they will even prepare a picnic for you to stay outdoors all day long.
