What to do in Fuerteventura
Visit its magnificent and idyllic beaches
and unique natural spaces, which we are sure will captivate you. This island is
known as the "emerald paradise" because of the colour of its waters.
The beaches of the Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo will amaze you with
their kilometre-long shores and colours that look like something out of a
painting. Some of them, such as the Moro or Burro beaches, will fascinate you
with their fine golden sand and crystal clear waters. There are also smaller,
hidden beaches such as La Concha or El Puertito de Lobos, which have a special
charm and should not be missed. There are other wonderful beaches surrounded by
mountains, such as Cofete, and others for wind-surfing or other sports, such as
Barlovento. If you go to the north you should not miss Corralejo, which has the
beautiful little island of Lobos in front of it, which you can reach in a short
and pleasant boat trip.
Fuerteventura has some incredible and
powerful dunes that are a must see, the Dunes of Corralejo, one of the main
attractions of the island. For those who are more into the land than sea, you shouldn’t
miss Tindaya, considered the island's magic mountain, or Calderón Hondo, an
imposing volcano crater that can be climbed over a path.
You should also not miss to visit the
typical charming little villages. Between coves or surrounded by volcanic
craters; there are dozens of stunning villages to visit. Visit El Cotillo, a
village of whitewashed cottages, a place for surfers, travellers and fishermen,
or Puertito de los Molinos, a little village surrounded by cliffs with a
bohemian restaurant. Corralejo, a town between dunes, is one of the areas that
offer a wide range of leisure activities with shops and restaurants. The villages
of Antigua or Betancuria, or the caves in the town of Ajuy are also a good
option.
Don't forget to visit the island's famous
open-air markets, as there is something for everyone. There are traditional
Canarian markets, craft markets, leather goods markets, gastronomic markets...
