La Torre del Visco

Perfect in every way and seriously the best place I have ever stayed. We absolutely loved it. Beautiful accommodation on a stunning property and the food was out of this world. I can not rate this highly enough.

My wife and I visited La Torre del Visco recently for some winter sun. Little did we know driving down the long track to the hotel what an enchanting place we had chosen to stay at. The setting for the hotel is stunning, the converted farm buildings nestled in a hidden valley in the beautiful surrounding mountains. From the moment we arrived our English hosts Piers and Jemma made us feel totally at home. Even though we had one of the cheapest rooms it was bright, beautifully appointed and very comfortable, not that we spent too much time in it. There is simply no need when you can choose between the beautiful salon with stunning views down the valley or the huge library containing a vast and varied collection of books in English and Spanish and an excellent collection of music to choose from or indeed any of the seating on various terraces outside beneath the vines and looking out over the valley. We chose to eat our breakfasts round the farmhouse kitchen table but if you prefer more privacy breakfast will be served wherever you like – in either case whatever you like will be cooked for you and everything we had was fresh and delicious. We ate from both the restaurant and tapas / raciones menus during our stay and both were excellent with the quality of the home grown ingredients really shining through. It was a particular delight to eat one evening meal in the kitchen, watching as the chef prepared our meals, chatting enthusiastically and fetching various ingredients to show us. If you are after a break where your cares will simply melt away we can’t recommend La Torre del Visco enough. The silence and beauty of the mountain setting is very special and the hotel is the ideal base for exploring the beautiful local villages or as a base for walking in the stunning mountains or simply for relaxing in the lap of luxury. Our abiding memory of our stay apart from the silence and beauty and refinement of the surroundings was sitting in the library after dinner listening to Ella Fitzgerald on the stereo sipping glasses of tawny port from the hotel ‘honor’ bodega whilst flicking through books browsed from the shelves around us. A perfect memory for a beautiful hotel.
