To Spiti

To Spiti is old - dating back to 1400, to be exact-, simply decorated but still functional and elegant. It is a great option for any discerning traveller looking for a self catering option rather than a hotel, in the Ottoman district of Splanzia in Chania.
It was not always like that, though. For many years To Spiti was in disrepair, until in 1991, when the charming Tsourounaki family acquired it and with typical Greek energy turned the place around.
The renovation lasted three years and the original wooden beams and as many of the imaginative old pieces as possible, such as the wash basins, were kept. To Spiti was restored to its former Venetian glory but with an added touch of contemporary style. The kitchen is located on the ground floor; living areas on the first floor and the bedrooms as well as bathrooms are on the second floor. The roof top terrace offers great views, not only of manmade wonders such as the Minaret and St Nicholas Bell Tower, but also of the “Akrotin” peninsula mountains. This is a great place to enjoy self catering in the lovely city of Chania.
